Call for Papers: CISMOR Young Scholarsʼ Workshop 2025

The Center for Interdisciplinary Study of Monotheistic Religions (CISMOR) will hold the 2025 Young Scholarsʼ Workshop on Saturday, June 14, 2025 . This workshop will be held on hybrid format in person and online, on the ZOOM platform.

We welcome submission of abstracts for participating in the workshop!

【Qualification requirement and conditions】

Qualification requirement: PhD/MA Students of Doshisha University

Graduate students of other universities with recommendation of CISMOR Research Fellow (http://www.cismor.jp/en/researchers/)

Presentationsʼ themes: The themes/topics should relate to research on the Ancient Near East (ANE), Christian, Jewish or Islamic world. The specific research may regard textual, sociological, womenʼs study, as well as philosophical issues and more. The paper could have been previously read, or submitted for publication; it is recommended to be a research in progress. Presentations will be for 20 minutes (either in Japanese or in English). The presentation is to be commented by an assigned established scholar (for 10 minutes), as well as the other participants.

Deadline of the Call for Papers: May 9, 2025 (Friday).

The result will be announced to the applicants by May 16th from CISMOR Office.

Once the paper is accepted, CISMOR will assign a commentator who will comment on the paper. The young scholar must submit to CISMOR a draft of the paper by June 4th , that will be submitted to the commentator by CISMOR.
